TMW Updates Document Management Software

Published: October 7, 2008

by Alex Woodie

TMW Systems last week launched a new release of TMW Imaging, a document management system that plugs into its dispatching solutions for trucking companies. With version 3.1, the company has added several fax and e-mail related features that should prove to be time-savers for adopting companies.

TMW Imaging was developed by TMW Systems to address specific needs of trucking companies that use the vendor's Windows and i OS-based dispatching systems, including TruckMate (Windows), TMWSuite (Windows), and TL2000 (i OS). The software enables users to scan and store critical business documents, such as invoices, bills of lading, and scale tickets, and to retrieve these documents (along with any related documents) with just a few keystrokes, thereby saving users lots of time compared to paper-based processes.

With TMW Imaging version 3.1, the Ohio software company has added several more features that should further speed up back-office processes. For example, the capability to e-mail invoices as a Web link, instead of an attachment, should make it easier for users to track when the invoice was opened.

The product also now supports outbound faxing, through a product called Faxcore, the vendor says. Users can also receive an e-mail notification when they attempt to use the product's outbound faxing feature. Lastly, the product, which TMW admits is "no frills," received some user interface work to make it more friendly. All told, more than 260 hours of development work went into the latest release.

One happy TMW Imaging customer that is likely to upgrade to the latest release is Wannemacher Enterprises, a provider of trucking and warehousing services based in Lima, Ohio. According to Bob Stechschulte, the company's IT manager, TMW Imaging saves the company's accounts receivable department two to three hours every day. "It helps streamline our invoicing process, decreases record filing and lookup time, and decreases our response time for record requests from our customers looking for bills of lading, scale tickets, lumper receipts, or other documents," he says.
