LogiXML Delivers New Data Visualization Tool, Called VizLytics

LogiXML, a developer of Web-based business intelligence (BI) solutions, last week launched VizLytics, a new data visualization solution designed to give users fast and easy access to graphical analysis of production data.

Based in McLean, Virginia, LogiXML fashions itself one of a new breed of BI software vendors that have latched onto the AJAX user interface resolution. The company markets a suite of Windows-based BI tools that includes managed and ad hoc reporting, ETL, and OLAP capabilities. At about $72,000 for the suite, the software is not cheap (although cheaper than the tier-one BI vendors), but the user-friendly Web-based interface has drawn customers and investors.

Now LogiXML introduces VizLytics, which looks to further cut erode the perceived benefits of traditional tier-one BI platforms with the capability for even novice users to manipulate data and create compelling business reports.

LogiXML describes VizLytics as an advanced visualization tool designed to give users insight into their business metrics. The software, which is hosted by LogiXML, provides users with an "information canvas" that allows them to create a personalized view of their data. Users get started by dragging their choice of visual elements onto the canvas, dropping their data onto the target, then choosing their colors, size, and headings.

Once the data is loaded, users can view different aspects of their data by playing with the different parameters and filters available to them. LogiXML also included facilities for continuously updating the VizLytics environment with a user's latest data.

The software accepts data as input data in XLS, CSV, and GoogleDoc spreadsheet file formats, or feeds from LogiXML partners. The software can also utilize i OS data stored in DB2/400, as long as it's converted to CSV first. In fact, there are already some i OS (formerly i5/OS and OS/400) customers using LogiXML products, according to the company's forums.

Arman Eshraghi, CEO and founder of LogiXML, described VizLytics as a "revolutionary product" for the BI industry. "Not only is it incredibly easy to use, but it also adds a little fun into data analysis with dynamic, customizable, colorful graphics that reveal the true story behind the numbers," he says. "There really is nothing else like this on the market."

LogiXML is currently encouraging interested parties to download and try VizLytics for free. The company expects to deliver an enterprise version later this year that will add multi-user support and direct feeds from Salesforce.com and QuickBooks Online.
