The number of cars on the application modernization train just keeps growing.
The latest independent software vendor (ISV) to come aboard is Software AG and its "crossvision Legacy Modernization" offering.
Peter Kuerpick, a member of the Software AG board and the one responsible for the development of crossvision, describes the product as offering "a low-risk, step-by-step modernization pattern that can be tailored to meet an organization's needs."
Software AG's crossvision Legacy Modernization portfolio is built around the company's crossvision Legacy Integrator, crossvision Service Orchestrator, crossvision Application Composer, and the CentraSite SOA repository.
A testimonial from Sue McGuire, information services manger at American Community Mutual Insurance Company, was provided in Software AG's press release. From McGuire's viewpoint on application modernization, it is necessary to "demonstrate significant incremental benefits leading to the long-term results to justify a decision to preserve and not replace existing business systems." In her assessment Software AG "provides both the tools and methodologies to achieve the expected outcomes such as cost reduction, productivity enhancements and a visibly improved end-user experience."
Software AG's pricing for the crossvision modernization software is based upon the combination of products and methodologies required. No additional, or more specific, pricing information was provided. According to company literature, a wide range of platforms and standards are supported, and the product is available now.
