Symtrax last week announced the version 3.6 releases of MapForm and Compleo, two document management tools for OS/400 servers. The American-French company also unveiled a partnership with NSX Software to enable SAP customers to work with ERP data from within Microsoft Excel.
MapForm and Compleo are separate but related tools designed to help users streamline their document distribution processes. Compleo is an established OS/400 spool file utility that electronically distributes OS/400 output in a variety of ways, including as PDFs, as spreadsheets, as HTML, or via e-mail, while MapForm is a newer tool that provides graphical electronic document overlays onto document output from a variety of systems, including OS/400 servers.
Symtrax has aimed to boost the security of the tools with the simultaneous version 3.6 launch. The new release supports "class 1a" digital signatures in PDF documents for the purpose of authenticating users, which Symtrax says will speed up business decisions and workflows.
Barcode functionality has also been enhanced with the new releases. Customers printing Code 128 barcodes can now feel confident that Code 128 barcodes generated by Symtrax products will "scan right, the first time and every time," according to the company.
In other news, Symtrax and NSX Software announced a joint offering that will deliver real-time access to SAP data from within Excel. The new solution, called StarQuery SAPDesigner and StarQuery for Excel (SAP Edition), will ship with the NSX SAP driver during the fourth quarter, the companies said.
"Real-time matters because it is the only version of the truth people want," says Ron Frank, president of NSX Software. "Symtrax has perfectly anticipated the needs in the SAP ecosystem: a solution that is seamlessly integrated with Excel and is capable of delivering reliable SAP data in real time."
