SEA and RevSoft End Partnership for OS/400 Utilities

Software Engineering of America is developing its own OS/400 systems management tools following a falling-out with its former development partner, RevSoft. SEA, which has been developing and selling mainframe tools for over 20 years, partnered with the established Australian firm for OS/400 tools in 2004, but disagreements between the two companies led to a mutual decision to call it quits, officials with the companies say. Tango/04 Looks for Database Changes with New Tool

Companies looking to lock down their iSeries and Windows databases as a means toward achieving regulatory compliance have a new tool from Tango/04 Computing Group to check out. The Spanish software house recently started shipping Data Monitor, a utility that keeps a trail of all changes made to specific records in sensitive tables, and sends real-time alerts to administrators when the integrity and confidentiality of data is put at risk. Correction: The article "Saving RPG and the iSeries--Now Isn't That Profound?" has been corrected since it was published last week. It originally noted, "the list of companies using RPGsp to launch dynamic Web sites, build data-driven applications, and analyze code has grown into the thousands." The correct number is estimated by Profound Logic to be "more than 300 companies."
