WorksRight Address Verification Software Receives USPS Certification

Published: October 27, 2009

by Alex Woodie

Companies that rely on i OS address verification software from WorksRight Software can rest assured that they can continue to use the software into the new year--and get bulk-mailer discounts from the US Postal Service--as the result of USPS certification of WorkRight's PER/ZIP4, announced last week.

PER/ZIP4 is a batch-oriented i OS software product that analyzes address files and automatically fixes them to adhere to standards. At the same time, the software can also cross check the address to assign a five-digit ZIP code, and can even add four-digit ZIP code extensions. It can also be used interactively to provide address verification during the data entry process, and also includes sample source code for adding POSTNET barcodes to mailers.

The USPS requires address verification products like PER/ZIP4 to be certified periodically in its CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) program. This is to ensure that the products are keeping up with address changes and can continue to improve the accuracy of addresses for bulk mailing operations, which saves money for everyone involved.

Last week, WorksRight announced that its PER/ZIP4 product has received CASS certification for the 2009/2010, ensuring that customers can continue to use the software.

WorksRight sells several other related products that also are subject to periodic testing by the USPS or Canada Post, including CPC Canadian postal code software, HyPER/SORT mail sorting software, PER/DPV delivery point validation software, PER/RDI, which indicates if an address is a private residence, Z4 LAT/LON geocoding software, and ZIP/CITY, a database of ZIP codes and area codes.

One-year subscriptions to PER/ZIP4 costs $4,800 for unlimited use on a single System i server. Each subsequent year costs $2,400. The company provides monthly updates to its postal database. For more information or free trial downloads, visit www.worksright.com.
