IBS Partners with Global for Excel Software

Integrated Barcoding Systems (IBS) and Global Software have entered into an OEM agreement that results in IBS reselling Global's software, which integrates Excel with i5/OS applications, as an add-on to its data collection software, the companies announced last week.

IBS is an Adrian, Michigan, software company that specializes in the development of middleware that extends ERP application screens to data collection equipment, mostly wireless barcode scanners, but also some radio frequency identification (RFID) equipment. The company's flagship product, QuikTrac, has been used to connect popular i5/OS-based ERP systems like XA, BPCS, System 21, J.D. Edwards, and Movex, with a variety of barcode scanners, including those from Intermec, Symbol (now owned by Motorola), and others.

As part of its technology agreement with Global, IBS will resell two products based on Global technology, including QuikTrac Spreadsheet Server, which is based on Spreadsheet Server, and QuikTrac ExeView, which is based on Executive DASH. QuikTrac Spreadsheet Server will enable IBS' customers to directly access ERP-based data in real time from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, while QuikTrac ExeView will provide executives with a dashboard-style interface to data.

IBS president Andy Jacobs says his customers have been asking for an Excel-based solution for some time. "We answered by partnering with Global in our mission to provide powerful Excel automation technology that can be utilized during the scanning of inventory items--directly from the shop floor within the comfortable environment of Excel," he says.
