ACOM Goes GUI with EDI Software

Published: November 7, 2006

ACOM Solutions last week unveiled EZConnect EDI-XML 8.0, a new version of its Windows-based data translation and e-business connectivity software for use with a variety of back-office applications. With version 8.0, the company has given the product a graphical user interface (GUI) for the first time.

Sam Mikhail, vice president of ACOM Solutions business in Long Beach, California, says the new GUI makes EZConnect EDI-XML 8.0 easy and intuitive to use. "The on-screen presentation is easy to understand as well as customizable to user preferences, providing unprecedented user control," Mikhail says.

In particular, the new GUI makes it easier to add new trading partners and to change existing data maps, and also makes it easier to map flat files to and from the ANSI X.12 documents, Mikhail says.

The new GUI also supports a split screen for the on-line syntax-checking component that makes it easier for users to validate commands and check their mapping for errors, online and interactively. Previously, it would have been necessary to bring the system up to production mode before being able to isolate anomalies, ACOM says.

EZConnect runs on the Windows platform but provides EDI and XML translation and transformation for a variety of databases, operating systems, and ERP and accounting packages, ACOM says. The software also supports numerous delivery formats, including private VANs, FTPS, HTTPS, and AS2.

Mikhail says feedback on EZConnect EDI-XML 8.0 is good. "Early response tells us that Version 8.0 is not only easier to use than previous versions of EZConnect, but that it is also more powerful and more flexible than competing products."

ACOM says there are 150 companies using EZConnect in production, including Lockheed Martin, St. George Crystal, SK Foods, Leopold & Stevens, CanWel Distribution, and Hospital Logistics.
