Even while IBM has moved away from the iSeries moniker in favor of the System i and i5 branding, there is no shortage of iSeries-related news on the market. One only needs to look as far as Las Vegas, where Microsoft business partner Teneros last week unveiled its new iSeries line of appliances for Exchange environments.
Teneros was founded three years ago with the goal of providing appliance-based continuity solutions for Exchange e-mail servers. Earlier this year, the company launched its line of Teneros Application Continuity Appliances for Microsoft Exchange, which is designed as a plug-in appliance to ward off planned and unplanned downtime for traditional wired Exchange environments.
Last week at the Microsoft Exchange Connections conference, the company unveiled its new iSeries line, which is designed to provide archiving for traditional Exchange data stores, as well as to protect mobile e-mail environments, including Blackberry, Goodlink, Microsoft Mobile, KVS, and Iron Mountain, from experiencing downtime.
Three iSeries appliances are available, including the ACA 2500i, which supports up to 250 users and a 100 GB mail store, the ACA 5000i, which supports up to 500 users and a 300 GB mail store, and the ACA 7500i, which supports up to 750 users and a 500 GB mail store.
