Aldon to Offer Free Upgrade Assessment Tool for J.D. Edwards

Aldon last week announced a new tool for J.D. Edwards World customers designed to simplify the process of moving to new releases of World, while preserving customizations from previous versions. The tool, which is called the Aldon Assessment Report, will be free when it becomes available before the end of the year, Aldon says.
Dealing with custom changes and modifications to ERP products is one of the great headaches of enterprise IT. While out-of-the-box ERP implementations are often lacking in certain features that users can't do without, making custom changes to the code often creates code compatibility problems down the road when that ERP product is upgraded to a new release or a new version.
To help customers deal with this problem, Aldon introduced its Assessment Report Program for J.D. Edwards users. The tool, which is based on Aldon's Harmonizer product line, provides J.D. Edwards programmers with a complete history of modifications, compares them against the original unmodified release, and maps the changes so they can be easily applied to the new release, Aldon says.
Having all this information in one place allows the upgrade process to be planned and implemented on a more predictable schedule, the company says. "In today's fast moving market, you have to make technology work for you at every turn of the road to stay competitive. Our goal is to deliver technology that puts you miles ahead," says Matt Scholl, Aldon's chief operating officer.
Perhaps the best thing about the Aldon Assessment Report Program is its cost: It's free! Aldon says the tool will become available before the end of the year to World customers on maintenance. Go to www.aldon.com for more information.
