The Miami Parking Authority (MPA) has implemented two Global Software products to help it analyze financial data, including Global's Spreadsheet Server for J.D. Edwards and Budget Manager applications, the software vendor announced yesterday.
With a coverage zone that includes more than 22,000 parking spaces, five garages, 56 lots, and 7,631 metered street spaces, the MPA has its hands full keeping drivers happy in the growing South Florida metropolis. However, when it came to analyzing financial data in its J.D. Edwards ERP system, it discovered that its tools were less than ideal.
The organization gave Global Software and its Spreadsheet Server line a shot. Spreadsheet Server is unique in that it enables users to view and manipulate data housed in an ERP system from the familiar comfort of an Excel spreadsheet. It also works in real time.
Lavern Smith, director of information systems for the MPA, discussed the solution. "We evaluated several add-on tools that could relieve the cumbersome spreadsheet challenges the MPA accounting team was experiencing regularly," she says. "We turned to Spreadsheet Server for use with J.D. Edwards, which has done a great job of streamlining our Excel-based reporting and analysis processes."
