Trinks, Germany's largest beverage distributor, is using systems management software from CCSS to manage 19 OS/400 servers located across the country, the software vendor announced last week.
Trinks heavily relies on the OS/400 server to run its business. The company, which was founded in 1735 as a water wholesaler and today enjoys revenues of more than €1 billion, operates 16 local distribution centers and a fleet of 300 trucks, which deliver beverages to 15,000 destinations around the country.
The distributor uses all three products from the U.K.-based CCSS to help manage its distributed network of OS/400 servers, including QSystem Monitor for real-time monitoring, QMessage Monitor for tracking system messages, and QRemote Control for receiving messages remotely.
Trinks' IT operations manager, who was not identified by CCSS, says the software helps Trinks address the time-critical nature of his company's business. "Imagine what it would cost Trinks if a system was down for only a couple of hours. It would be easy to lose several thousand Euros very quickly," he says. "With QSystem Monitor, we can prevent stoppages by pinpointing and resolving errors before they become a huge problem."
