m-Power Generates Consistent Reports Across the Board

Companies that use mrc's m-Power development tool to create reports can be assured that all reports generated by their m-Power applications, whether they're in PDF, Excel, or HTML format, will have the same look and feel, mrc announced last week.

m-Power is collection of development tools mrc rolled out several years ago for creating Web applications, reports and queries, dashboard interfaces, and business intelligence apps on top of existing databases. The software relies heavily on JavaScript and works on System i and other major server platforms.

One of the key components of m-Power is m-Painter, a WYSIWYG editor for creating HTML interfaces. By using m-Painter to create screens at the HTML level, it enables users to apply the look and feel of that document across all documents, including PDFs, Excel files, and HTML-based reports, mrc says.

This approach gives users the advantage of maintaining a consistent corporate look across all their communications, and saving them a ton of time doing it, mrc says.

Chicago-based mrc announced the update to m-Power about two weeks ago. The company has adopted a software update approach modeled on IBM's program temporary fix (PTF) delivery model, where it delivers many, mostly minor updates, instead of bigger, but less-frequent releases.
