The next release of CA's AllFusion Plex model- and pattern-based development tool will support the generation of native Microsoft C# code, the software developer announced recently. AllFusion Plex Release 6, which is now entering beta, will allow developers to create applications for the next generation of Windows Server operating systems, as well as i5/OS and Java.
AllFusion Plex, along with CA's AllFusion2E, has a long history on the IBM midrange server. Originally developed by Synon, the tools (which have had several names over the years) have a loyal following of users who rely on the 4GL rapid application development (RAD) environment to quickly design and implement new applications on the users' choice of platforms (with Plex; 2E is specifically designed for i5/OS environments).
According to a CA developer newsletter, the main new feature in AllFusion Plex Release 6 is a C# server code generator. "This will enable AllFusion Plex developers to deliver back-end systems for the Microsoft .NET platform, in addition to what is supported currently: Microsoft Windows, Java, and IBM System i," the newsletter states.
CA is currently looking for beta testers for AllFusion Plex Release 6. For more information, visit www.ca.com.
