Journaling Changed Bytes Only

Hey, Ted:

I thought you might like a little more information about journaling changed bytes only as a follow up to your story in Midrange Guru OS/400 Edition, January 30, 2002.

A customer who took this new support for a spin in March 2001 wrote us and provided measurements that revealed an interesting result. For his particular application, one where his batch update program only needed to update a status flag, a user code, and a timestamp in each record processed, his journal receiver sizes shrank by a whopping 40 percent.

Therefore, if you've got the right environment, this solution can be a winner.
