Setting Up Views Optimized for Crystal Reports

Hey, Howard:

I have a few power users that have Crystal Reports and I would like to allow them to create reports from our AS/400 data. However, Crystal only displays the system names--which are, at most, ten characters long--for the fields in our physical files and the users do not know what these fields represent.

Is there any way to make Crystal Reports display the field descriptions?

Why Doesn't iSeries Ops Console Work?

Hey, Joe:

I've been trying to swap out an existing Windows 95 Operations Console PC for a Windows 98 PC with the Client Access Express for Windows V5R1 version of Ops Console installed. However, every time I try to make a connection, it doesn't bring up my system console. The entry just sits there with the message, 'Console connecting.' I'm using Ops Console as a stand-alone Local Controlling System (LCS) with a direct cable connection to my OS/400 V4R5 machine. Do you have any ideas?

A Tip from a Reader:   I have a comment regarding your response to Robert's question about needing to recover from a problem during a nightly backup procedure while QINTER was ended;  I use the same back-door approach to making sure at least one workstation--other than the console--can get to a sign-on screen.
