CASS Certification
What is it? Why do you need it?
CASS--Coding Accuracy Support System--is a test
and certification system developed by the U.S.
Postal Service to determine if ZIP Code
software can accurately assign ZIP Codes to
mailing addresses. CASS-certified software
helps improve accuracy of carrier route,
5-digit ZIP, ZIP+4, and delivery point codes.
It's the first step in qualifying for
postage discounts.

find and grep Performance Issues
Hey, David:
A
caveat on your article that discusses the find and grep functions.
I tried a test this morning. Inside Qshell, find runs slowly. I then
tried find and grep over the /home directory. Again, it ran slowly
and I wanted to cancel it, but SysReq didn't work.

FTP and Numeric Data
Hey, Ted:
I am trying to FTP a file from my AS/400 to a Windows NT server.
Everything is fine except that the negative numbers dododo not
translate properly. Do you have any clues as to why this is
happening and what I can do to solve this problem?
-- Hugh

reader is referring to three articles in
Midrange Guru: Prototyping
*ENTRY Parameters, Part I, Prototyping
*ENTRY Parameters, Part II, and More
on Prototyping *ENTRY Parameters.] In
the second article, you mentioned that "a
prototyped call to a program cannot return a value."
What does that mean?
