Installing the 1.3 Java Development Kit

Hey, David:

In your Tomcat article, "Installing and Configuring Tomcat on iSeries," Midrange Programmer, OS/400 Edition, February 14, 2002, you mentioned that we should use the 1.3 Java Development Kit (JDK). I went to install the 1.3 JDK on a development system that is at V4R5, but the licensed program install disks only have the 1.1.8 and 1.2 JDKs.

How do I install the 1.3 JDK?

Show Current Directory in Qshell Prompt

Hey, Ted:

Back in my old MS-DOS days, the default prompt was something like a drive letter and a greater-than ( > ) sign. I don't remember the default because I never used it; I had a line in the autoexec.bat file that made the system include the current directory in the prompt.

Now I'm using the Qshell interpreter, and the prompt is a dollar ( $ ) sign. Is there a way to make the prompt show me the current directory?

-- Harmon
