Relative Record Number Sequence and SQL

Hey, Howard:

How can I stop the SQL optimizer from selecting a logical file instead of the physical file I used in my SELECT statement?

I need the records in arrival sequence, so I can display them in the order in which they were keyed, but the optimizer is using a logical file, which puts them in a different order.

Copy a Physical File to a Save File

Hey, Ted:

A programmer at another of our facilities FTP'd a save file to our iSeries. Unfortunately, he did not create the save file on our system first, so we now have a physical file that contains save file data. I make this mistake occasionally myself. I usually delete the physical file and redo the process correctly. This time I'm wondering if there's a way to copy that physical file to a save file.

Reader Feedback and Insights: Omitting Parameters in RPG Programs and Modules

I want to share with you another method that I have used to handle the omitted parameter issue. This may be an old way, but it works well:
