What Is Library QSYSDIR? Hey, Ted: I was reviewing disk space and noticed that, in a year, library QSYSDIR has grown from 1 MB to 350 MB. I noticed that there are a lot of save files in this library. What is this library used for? Can this library be cleaned up (possibly by deleting some save files)? --Richard I could not find any documentation on QSYSDIR, so I asked Bruce Vining of IBM. Here is his kind reply: QSYSDIR is the library associated with option 3 of OS/400 (Extended Base Directory Support). This can be seen with DSPSFWRSC and F11. The save files starting with the name QSI* are basically PTFs that have not been permanently applied, and should disappear when the corresponding PTF is permanently applied. If the customer has recently done a release upgrade and had not previously done a permanent apply, then they may have "left over" save files from the previous release, which can no longer be applied. If they have lots of these pre-release save files, we may want to investigate this further with the PTF folk. I'm not aware of a good way to "really" clean them up, as there are Integrated File System *STMFs associated with them that a simple DLT of the *SAVF wouldn't catch. --Ted
