We have been using RPG IV for several years, but have avoided using activation groups, as our early experiments with activation groups were less than stellar. The biggest problem we had was that overrides didn't work as we wanted them to. Compiling RPG IV programs into the default activation group has worked well for us, until recently.

I'm responding to Dave's claim that IBM is out of touch with customers ["Reader Feedback and Insights: IBM Is Out of Touch with Customers"]. No doubt IBM played a part in being "out of touch" with some of these customers, but one must realize that it is the customer's responsibility, too.
