Uses for USER
Hey, Howard:
I attended your presentation on Crystal Reports and took your suggestion on creating views to limit user access to heart. However, I have an interesting situation at my company. We have a file of data that we want users to be able to access, but the application makes sure that users only see data appropriate to their department. In the application, this is done by looking up the user's department based on the user profile and only showing records that have that department code. Is it possible to do this using SQL?

Reader Feedback and Insights: More "Why Java?"

I agree that it is (and will continue to be) more common to see RPG and Net.Data deployed at midrange sites, and that Java consumes more resources than RPG. Other than that, I think Steven's reply requires more of an in depth look than "Java is slower, so people won't use it" ["Reader Feedback and Insights: More Letters About "Why Java?"].
