Reader Feedback and Insights: Free Utility to Retrieve Command Source

Hey, Ted:

I've been using a freeware program for years, and it works well. It was written by Dave McKenzie and is available at iSeries Network.

Here is a link to download the file:

www.iseriesnetwork.com/code/sharewarefiles/rtvcmd.zip

The source code is included.

Thanks, Chip. Several other people wrote me with that information, including Dave McKenzie himself. Some readers were under the impression that Dave's utility only works with security level 30 and below. However, Dave tells me that is not the case. Older versions had that restriction, but the current version works with any level.

A reader named Jeff mentioned that he has used Dave's command to retrieve the source code of some of IBM's commands, and has learned a lot about commands that way.
