Unisys, NEC Push the Performance Envelope
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
While Hewlett-Packard and IBM are slugging it out to demonstrate the highest performance levels in the server market with their respective "Superdome" Integrity and "Regatta-H" pSeries 690 platforms, they are by no means the only vendors pushing performance in the high-end Wintel server space. Unisys and NEC are in the game, and they demonstrated that with some benchmark results this week. READ MORE >

Citrix Announces New Pricing, Product Bundles, Portal Enhancements
by Dan Burger
Most of the 2,500 people attending the iForum user conference hosted by application access software vendor Citrix Systems in Florida last week, were buzzing about the upcoming version of the company's MetaFrame XP Presentation Server. The "technology preview" (beta) version was being demonstrated at the show and is available for download at the MyCitrix portal. MetaFrame is Citrix's flagship product. Bellwether IBM Sees Stabilization in Third Quarter
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
The economies of the world are not in great shape, but with a steady sales pitch and a steady hand on the cost controls, IBM managed to grow its revenues and profits in the third quarter. As I See It: Dissecting Diversity
by Victor Rozek
I used to believe in diversity, but now I don't. I suppose that's a strange statement coming from one who is a product of diversity. My parents immigrated to this country but kept their language and culture until they died. So having grown up multiculturally, I understand the value of it. A second language, an expanded world view, a broader historic perspective: these are great and enduring gifts. Nonetheless, it would be hard not to notice that outside of ethnic restaurants and cross-over music, diversity isn't quite living up to its potential. READ MORE >
