Initially the Web site was a facility to provide iSeries users with an information exchange. As the idea developed, IGNITe/400 began publishing a monthly electronic newsletter.

ERP Vendor Navision Reveals Its Intentions for the iSeries

Last year I told you IBM and Danish ERP software maker Navision were in negotiations that would result in one of the popular Navision software suites being ported to the OS/400 platform and promoted on iSeries servers. Last week, IBM and Navision went public with their plans, and Navision's applications for small businesses will indeed be available on OS/400 shortly, and should boost sales of iSeries servers.

    Newlook Expands Developer and Deployment Options

    Looksoftware previewed a major new release of the company's screen rejuvenation, integration, and Web-enablement toolset for OS/400-based applications last week at the IBM PartnerWorld 2002 convention in San Francisco. With the upcoming release of newlook 6.0, developers will find support for Web services protocols, the distributed data management specification, double-byte character sets, and the 3270 mainframe datastream protocol.

    Vision Solutions Overhauls Data Replication Suite

    Vision Solutions has overhauled its data replication software and eliminated a middle-tier data caching component that used to reside on Windows servers, the software vendor announced last week at IBM's PartnerWorld convention in San Francisco. The company said users of Symbiator 4.0, which will become generally available April 15, will find performance and scalability improvements and more advanced data filtering capabilities than in previous versions of the product.
