iTera Boosts Performance of OS/400 File Reorg Tool

iTera recently started shipping a new version of its OS/400 file reorganization tool, Reorganize While Active Version 3.1, that it says runs faster and takes up less disk space than the version it replaces. While iTera officials are not saying how it works for fear of giving its competitors an advantage, the company says users can expect to see a 40 percent performance increase and a one-for-one improvement in the amount of disk space it requires compared to Version 2.

Bynari's iSeries Email App Replaces Microsoft Exchange

AS/400 and iSeries shops looking to replace their Microsoft Exchange email servers can add another option to their lists. Last week, Bynari announced the availability of its Linux-based email server for iSeries servers running OS/400 V5R1. InsightServer Enterprise Edition 3.0, company executives say, is a virtual plug-in-and-play replacement for Exchange and about half of the 200 million Outlook clients worldwide.

NeuVis Software last week started shipping the next version of its integrated development environment for building and deploying enterprise Java applications. Using NeuArchitect 4.0--a model-driven rapid application development (RAD) tool that automatically generates compiled code that runs on a wide variety of operating systems and Web application servers, including OS/400 and WebSphere--companies can build e-business extensions for their existing data stores and application logic, and deploy them in n-tier fashion.
