Electronic Storage Corp. Adds Barcode Tracking to Web-based Imaging System

by Alex Woodie

Electronic Storage Corp. yesterday started shipping new releases of Image EveryWhere, its Web-based imaging software, and Content Express, a report distribution system. The new release of Content Express has the capability to distribute documents via fax, as well as by e-mail, printer, and the Web. The new release of Image EveryWhere has a barcoding capability, which the Tulsa, Oklahoma, software company claims simplifies things like scanning, indexing, and retrieving OS/400-based documents.

Image EveryWhere is a Windows application that allows users to scan, index, and pull up documents from a Web browser. The software can be linked to ESC's flagship product, the OS/400-based LaserVault image archiving system.

The new barcoding feature that ESC has introduced with Image EveryWhere Version 3.53 is designed to automate the indexing of new documents and to make it easier access them at a later time. For every new document generated from an OS/400 application screen, Image EveryWhere creates a barcode that distinguishes it by some unique sequence, such as a customer number or an invoice number. Then, when the user scans the OS/400-generated document into Image EveryWhere, the software reads the barcode on the cover page and automatically indexes that document according to the unique identifier (such as customer number or invoice number).

This new barcoding feature eliminates the need for a user to manually index the document in the Image EveryWhere software; ESC claims it allows users to scan, index, store, or retrieve these documents with a single keystroke.

Content Express is ESC's report splitting and distribution system. The software can be set up to automatically split OS/400 reports, such as invoices, sales reports, or statements, and to distribute them either in printed form or electronically. The software gives recipients the option to specify the format in which their report is sent, and keeps a log of all sent items.

Previous versions of Content Express already supported the capability to distribute reports in PDF, HTML, or text formats via e-mail, the Web, or through hard-copy printouts.

Pricing for Content Express 2.18 and Image EveryWhere 3.53 start at $20,000 each, which includes a license for five users. For more information, go to www.elstore.com.
