That motto seems to be driving the market for legacy integration software, as Fortune 500 companies still haven't gotten rid of their mainframes and OS/400 servers, and software companies continue to develop new tools to access them. One of the newest legacy integration tools comes from Red Oak Software, a privately held company in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, that last month announced a new business process modeling program called Legacy Navigator. Silas Updates Agent-less Application Monitoring System

Most application monitoring systems on the market today use server-side programs, or agents, to keep tabs on a variety of different servers. Silas Technologies took a different route in developing Silas Reveille, the application monitoring system it introduced in 2001. The centralized monitoring technique in Silas Reveille uses a technology called Synthetic Application Snippets, which goes out and directly tests an application, a process the company claims speeds processing and deployment. Electronic Storage Corp. yesterday started shipping new releases of Image EveryWhere, its Web-based imaging software, and Content Express, a report distribution system. The new release of Content Express has the capability to distribute documents via fax, as well as by e-mail, printer, and the Web. The new release of Image EveryWhere has a barcoding capability, which the Tulsa, Oklahoma, software company claims simplifies things like scanning, indexing, and retrieving OS/400-based documents. HiT Software Touts Performance of New .NET-to-DB2 Middleware

Developers looking for a way to connect Microsoft Studio.NET applications to DB2 databases may find a solution from HiT Software. The San Jose, California, company last month announced a new SQL middleware product called Ritmo for DB2, which supports iSeries, mainframe, Windows, and Unix DB2 servers, and which HiT Software claims provides faster .NET to DB2 data access than the OLE and ODBC data bridge methods sanctioned by Microsoft, while supporting the Common Language Runtime environment.
