by Alex Woodie
SSA Global Technologies is in talks to purchase the
PRMS ERP system from Computer Associates, according
to an industry source. An official with SSA GT, a Chicago company that supports and sells the popular
OS/400-based BPCS ERP system for manufacturers and distributors, would not confirm whether the rumor
was true. The official did, however, allow that such an acquisition would possess "synergy" and that the
industry is in a period of consolidation.

partnership, in which the companies have integrated their applications and begun reselling each other's
software. The deal involves Metaserver's business-process-integration modeling tool and distributed
runtime environment and SEAGULL's Transidiom, a development tool designed to generate XML, Java, or
COM interfaces from OS/400 and mainframe applications. By uniting their offerings, the companies hope

Infinium inAbles Choice for Users of Customized Apps
by Alex Woodie
Companies that have customized their Infinium
applications now have an easier way to convert green screens into Web interfaces and avoid excess OS/400
licensing fees related to interactive processing. Two weeks ago, Infinium announced the general availability
of inAbler, a redevelopment tool that is designed to extend the business logic and interfaces of older,
customized Infinium applications to the Internet, and to reduce customers' concerns that customized code

MKS has announced the availability of Implementer 5.3,
the latest release of the company's software change-management solution for AS/400 and iSeries servers.
While this release provides numerous enhancements to the ways in which application developers can
