Centurion Rolls Out Full Service DR for Smaller OS/400 Shops

Since it was established as a subsidiary of OS/400 banking software vendor Jack Henry & Associates seven years ago, Centurion has signed up approximately 60 percent, or 1,100, of Jack Henry software users as its own customers. In January, Centurion launched a new campaign to begin offering its disaster recovery services to the wide range of OS/400 shops working in industries besides banking. READ MORE >

Museum's Search for Manageable Windows Server Leads to iSeries

When the Asian Art Museum decided to move its digs to a new location in San Francisco, IT director Jim Horio wasn't thrilled about reassembling the hodgepodge of older Intel servers that had been running the museum's core applications. Each application required its own server, preventing a move to one of the large Intel-based symmetric multi-processor machines. Then Horio, a System/32 guy from way back, ran the numbers from an iSeries point of view and found them quite pleasing. READ MORE >

DPS Launches Mobile Order Entry Application for PocketPC

New software from Data Processing Services should make retrieval of OS/400-based information easier for sales representatives when they're out on the road. The Indianapolis software company last week announced the general availability of PocketFlash, a new database-driven application that gives sales representatives access to ERP-resident features and information--such as order creation, product availability, and order status--from the field using a Microsoft PocketPC-based handheld computer. Magic Backs iBOLT Strategy with New Release of eDeveloper

Magic Software last week delivered much of the underlying technology that will be central to its iBOLT integration strategy with eDeveloper 9.4, which the company says is its biggest release of the fourth-generation-language development environment. Major new features include new XML, COM, and Java support, as well as support for standard messaging environments, including WebSphere MQ, MSMQ, and Java Messaging Services. Previously, eDeveloper supported only Magic Software's own proprietary messaging environment. READ MORE >

Create!form Adds Scanning Capabilities to Archive Application

Create!form International is introducing new capabilities for scanning hard-copy documents into its electronic archive. Next week the Waltham, Massachusetts, software company will begin shipping a new version of Create!archive that allows users to scan paper-based documents into the archive using high-volume Kofax scanners and low-volume Hewlett-Packard scanners, and even directly from Windows programs, in addition to capturing spool files directly as they come off the print queue.
