MAPICS Announces First ERP for iSeries Linux

MAPICS scored a first among iSeries ERP vendors last
week when it announced that its enterprise suite of software for manufacturers now runs on iSeries Linux.
While the announcement thrust the Atlanta, Georgia, software company ahead of its competitors in the
movement toward open-source software and Linux, MAPICS insists that its Linux move is not about
radically altering how software is shaped and distributed, but about giving customers as much choice as
possible.

CCSS Seeks to Reduce iSeries Disk Dramas

Keeping customers free of iSeries disk crises is the focus of the latest software release from CCSS, the English OS/400 systems management software vendor that
sells QSystem Monitor, QMessage Monitor, and QRemote Control. CCSS recently announced that it has
enhanced QSystem Monitor with a new disk usage inquiry command that gives iSeries operators a snapshot
of how the system is using its disks and helps to identify potential problems before they take a dramatic
turn.

Visual RPG Expands Horizons of OS/400 ERP Vendor

In late April, Xdata solutions started shipping a new suite
of ERP software that had been in development for two years. GXD is based on the core functionality of
XMAS/400, the suite of enterprise manufacturing, distribution, and accounting software that Xdata has been
selling since 1992. But whereas XMAS/400 was written in pure RPG, GXD was developed in ASNA's Visual RPG, which allows GXD to feel equally at
home on a Windows server as it does on the OS/400 platform.
