New SEAGULL Tool Delivers iSeries GUI as Microsoft Web Service

SEAGULL last week introduced a new way to develop and deliver GUI applications for iSeries and zSeries servers. The new product, LegaSuite Web Services Studio, provides a visual drag-and-drop environment that catalogs business processes, models new workflows, then generates the GUI and the application code, which is executed as a Microsoft ASP.NET application. MKS Rolls Out New Change Management Features for Application Development

MKS, one of several vendors in the iSeries change management market, last week announced several software releases that the company predicts will benefit projects in which controls on application development are being tightened. Developers using Visual LANSA get a shot in the arm now that LANSA has introduced Visual LANSA Framework, a design framework that company sources say will help developers create Windows and Web applications without the steep learning curve associated with some other development languages, Java in particular. The key features of this framework are the easy-to-use and easy-to-deploy Microsoft Outlook-style approach, and the capability for rapid prototype, design, implementation and deployment of common, commercially focused applications. eStorage Boosts AIT-3 Tape Speeds on iSeries with Embedded Emulation

eStorage says data-transfer speeds have more than doubled for its Sony AIT-3 tape subsystem connected to iSeries servers. The Irvine, California, company, which purchased the OS/400 storage business of BCC Technologies earlier this year, says it has clocked transfer speeds in excess of 110 GB per hour with its new 9192 single-drive AIT-3 tape subsystem, thanks to new tape emulation software embedded in the device, instead of residing on an external controller card. iWay Software Launches Major Release of Integration Toolset

iWay Software, an Information Builders company, recently completed a busy spring season with a major new release of its enterprise application integration (EAI) tool suite at its annual user conference. iWay replaced its flagship product, Enterprise Integration Suite 2002, with a new release, called iWay Software Version 5.5, which features numerous enhancements, like new support for XML, Java messaging, open standards, and a new GUI for managing the stable of iWay adapters, now numbering more than 250.
