BluePhoenix Launches New UPC Remediation Tool
by Alex Woodie

If your company deals in consumer processed goods, you should be well aware of the changes to UPC codes coming down the pike. Instead of supporting just the standard 12-digit code established by the Universal Code Council, there are new initiatives involving 8-,13-, and 14-digit product codes that companies should seriously consider supporting. BluePhoenix Solutions recently launched a remediation tool called UPCEnabler that analyzes a company's application source code and makes the necessary changes to bring it into compliance. PKWARE Issues New ZIP Spec with Added Security Features
by Alex Woodie

"Hey, this is pretty neat." Those are the immortal words of the late Phil Katz, developer of the ZIP file compression technology, upon discovering, at his mother's dining room table, that people would actually pay him for the software he offered for free. Katz went on to sell PKZIP products through his company, PKWARE, but he always maintained ZIP in the public domain. PKWARE is keeping Katz's tradition alive by issuing a new ZIP specification. Brooks Internet Software Updates Print Client Software
by Dan Burger

Does your company have a method that allows Windows users to send print jobs to your network or iSeries printers? If the answer is a Windows NT server, you should take a look at the option provided by Brooks Internet Software and its INTELLIscribe Version 3.0.0.13, released last week. Correction

The article "MKS Rolls Out New Change Management Features for Application Development" has been corrected since its was first published. The Web browser interface now operates on the iSeries under the Apache Web server (iSeries HTTP Server powered by Apache) as well as the original iSeries HTTP server," not the "original open-source Web server," as originally stated. Guild Companies regrets the error. [Correction made 06/03/03.]
