Elite Document Solutions Releases OS/400 Spool File and Document Viewer by Dan Burger Elite Document Solutions, one of two companies created out of the former FORMation mg, recently launched its first product. eliteVIEW provides real-time access to AS/400 and iSeries spool files through a Web browser or local client in a Windows environment, rather than traditional 24x80 green-screen viewing. The software allows users to access and view spool files, reports, documents, and electronic forms in a variety of file formats, including TXT, RTF, HTML, PRT, PDF, and PCL.
In addition to providing spool file viewing, eliteVIEW can print files to any laser printer, as well as e-mail, fax, or store the files using existing Windows applications. It also allows users to transfer files and database information to and from the iSeries and their network. Spool files merged with form graphics can be viewed with the PCL viewer or Adobe Acrobat. Andrew Rackauckas, president of Elite Document Solutions, expects the new eliteVIEW module to be an important tool for companies in manufacturing, distribution, insurance, and healthcare because of the increasing demand to view and process, within seconds, remotely accessed spooled information. Rackauckas also noted that future enhancements to the eliteSUITE--utilizing eliteVIEW--would include GUI mapping functionality for the company's form designer. Sources at the company indicate the GUI mapping tool should be available in July. Elite Document Solutions was founded in January 2002 after an acrimonious split of partners and staff from the document management company FORMation mg. In addition to its line of software solutions, Elite Document Solutions provides professional services for e-document integration and product training, printer consumables, and annual software maintenance contracts. eliteVIEW can be used as a stand-alone solution as well as a part of the eliteSUITE that includes software for electronic forms, iSeries e-mail, laser check printing, and e-banking. Pricing for eliteVIEW begins at $3,000, which includes five user seats. For more information, visit www.elitedocuments.com.
