What Aliens? SETI@home Does Straight Astronomy, Too by Alex Woodie The hippest distributed app in the universe is going a little bit mainstream, and spawning a new class of clones. SETI@home, which uses the left-over processing power of thousands of computers around the world--including OS/400 boxes--to sift through radio telescope data in search of signs of extraterrestrial intelligence, is now doing something with its data that's a little more down to earth.
