When zipper giant YKK USA decided to build a Web site to provide its customers with real-time information about their orders, the company wanted to host the Web site on a platform that would be stable, secure, and easily upgradeable. It's a Sign of the Times for Retailers with AccessVia

In the last month, the privately held Seattle, Washington, company has signed contracts with two prominent AS/400 shops, The Sports Authority and Staples, for AccessVia's dSIGN software that will allow the retailers to quickly change in-store signs and keep the correct prices on their shelves. Generic Software Gets COLD with Spool Utility

Sometimes the limits to what you can do with your spool files can put you in a bind. For instance, you may have run into a wall trying to duplicate a specific spool file or delete a group of them. Generic Software a Madison, Mississippi, company that specializes in OS/400 utilities, has bundled these commands, and more, into a popular package it calls Save Output Queue. Last month, the software vendor announced a new release of Save Output Queue that includes several enhancements, including support for computer output to laser disk (COLD) storage of OS/400 spool files. California Software Breaks into Business Intelligence

California Software, which controls a good portion of the market for midrange migration utilities, is now entering the business intelligence marketplace with the introduction of a new product called BABY/OLAP. The new software is designed to complement the company's BABY migration tools, and as such the target audiences for BABY/OLAP are users and software developers who have used California Software utilities to move their S/36, AS/400, and iSeries applications to Windows machines.
