IBM Debuts Hosting Services for WebSphere, Siebel, SAP

IBM Global Services yesterday rolled out three new iSeries-based hosted service offerings designed to get customers quickly up and running on SAP, Siebel Systems, and WebSphere applications. Big Blue also took the opportunity to announce its first iSeries customer win under the new programs. The retailer Things Remembered has migrated its e-commerce site, www.thingsremembered.com, to WebSphere Commerce running on an iSeries server located in an IBM data center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Profound Logic Breathes Life into Free-Format RPG

Free-format RPG and Profound Logic Software's RPG-Alive share some interesting similarities. Both strive to break the bounds of traditional RPG to make coding easier and more efficient, in RPG-Alive's case by continually updating a color-coded outline of the source code's structure as you program, and in free-format RPG's case by eliminating columnar restrictions, giving it a more Java- or C-like appearance. ClientSoft Gives ClientBuilder a Power Boost

ClientSoft recently issued a new release of its ClientBuilder middleware application, for developing new Web, Windows, and wireless interfaces from traditional OS/400, Unix, and mainframe screens. With ClientBuilder 7.5, ClientSoft says it redesigned the Windows-based application server to be 40 percent faster. Other improvements include expanded support for Unix data streams, a new integrated development environment that works with all three levels of ClientBuilder applications, and new team development options.
