BCD Debuts Web Portal for OS/400 Servers
by Alex Woodie
New Web portal software from Business Computer Design Int'l has been designed so AS/400 shops can more effectively manage users' access to data and other OS/400 applications. BCD's newly released portal software carries the brand name Nexus. It builds on BCD's ProGen WebSmart application development environment by providing a centralized location where users can access OS/400 documents, WebSmart programs, Internet Web sites, and other OS/400 resources. Nexus also makes site administrators' jobs easier by making sure users can only access the data or programs they're authorized to access. READ MORE >

But when IBM introduced a version of DB2 that would allow Danone to install DB2 on the laptops and replicate directly from the AS/400, the company jumped at the chance, and hasn't looked back since. It Slices, It Dices, It Makes Spool File Soup
by Alex Woodie
Think of your OS/400 spool files as the raw ingredients in a Cajun soup. They look so good just sitting there, but you've got to bring them to bear in the right amounts to give your spicy soup the proper zing. You're going to need a sharp dicer to extract the spool files' essence, a cutting board to sort your ingredients, and a mixing bowl to recombine the choicest parts of your spool files. You'll need a tool like Dicer, which was just announced by Gumbo Software. READ MORE >
