IBM Announces New Release of WDSc, New Software Ships in September

IBM last week announced WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Version 5.1, the latest release of its integrated development environment for creating Java- and Web-based applications for OS/400 servers. With Version 5.1, IBM will deliver new capabilities supported with the Eclipse Workbench, in addition to a new Web site designer, improved performance, more interoperability with Web services, and enhancements to the WDSc's Remote System Explorer and WebFacing Tool components, among other changes. Spool Files to PDF Documents

LANSA Catches the Linux Bug, Launches Linux 'Edge Server'

LANSA last week announced its first Linux product, a component of its LANSA for the Web runtime software that runs in a Linux partition on the iSeries. The new software, which the Downers Grove, Illinois, company calls LANSA for the Web Edge Server, provides a lighter, stealthier version of the OS/400-based Web server, which the company characterized as overkill for Web serving, not to mention a security concern. Kisco Offers New Color, Output Options with WebReport/400 6.0

Electronic documents generated with Kisco Information Systems' WebReport/400 software are now available in color. Last week Kisco announced WebReport/400 6.0, which brings new capabilities to merge color AFP overlays with PDF documents created from OS/400 spool files, allowing companies to send color versions of their invoices, purchase orders, and other business documents as e-mail attachments. WebReport/400 6.0 also has the capability to convert OS/400 spool files to CSV files. READ MORE >
