Aldon Tightens Integration to WDSc with Affiniti Change Manager

For OS/400 shops developing with the WebSphere Development Studio client tools from IBM, Aldon Computer Group late last week introduced Affiniti 4.0, a new version of its Java-based, software change management system. Affiniti, which debuted in 2001, was created to manage the development of the new class of multiplatform e-business applications--for example, a WebSphere Commerce store front application running on a Windows server and connecting to an OS/400-based order management application. PKWARE Ships New OS/400 Software, Moves to Solidify ZIP Encryption

PKWARE shipped new compression software Monday that allows OS/400 and mainframe shops to share large files (4 GB and up) with Windows and Unix shops. The Brown Deer, Wisconsin, company also announced it has filed a patent application for the process it uses to encrypt compressed files, in an attempt to "coax" other developers of ZIP compression software to settle on a single, standardized technique for applying strong encryption to the ZIP file format. HiT Middleware Delivers Fast DB2/400 Access for .NET Apps

Developers looking to optimize DB2/400 access to their new Microsoft .NET applications may want to check out HiT Software's latest data access middleware. The San Jose, California, company recently launched Ritmo 2.0, an updated version of its ADO.NET data provider, which comes in two flavors: regular and iSeries. NetManage Takes First Step Toward Consolidating Products

NetManage will soon consolidate its two major legacy connectivity product lines, according to a company initiative announced Monday. As part of its new Host Access Platform branding strategy, the development component of OnWeb, NetManage's host integration solution, will become more like RUMBA, the company's widely used, but aging, line of terminal emulation software for OS/400 and mainframe hosts. NetManage plans to ship a new release of OnWeb next month, which RUMBA customers should find familiar yet easier to use. READ MORE >
