EMC Chooses Crossroads to Connect Symmetrix DMX Disk Array to iSeries

EMC, the only provider of external iSeries disk besides IBM, and Crossroads Systems, a developer of storage protocol conversion products, have expanded their technology partnership to benefit EMC's OS/400 customers. The new offering from EMC uses Crossroads technology to allow iSeries servers to connect directly to EMC's next-generation Symmetrix DMX arrays, via Fibre Channel, thus giving customers more advanced data replication and disaster recovery options than before. Logility Supports RFID in Updated Suite of Supply Chain Apps

Logility last week rolled out support for radio frequency identification (RFID) technology in its supply chain software, giving users the capability to track goods electronically as they're moved in a warehouse. The new RFID capability was delivered with the warehouse management component of Voyager Solutions 7.0, the newest version of its supply chain planning and execution suite for OS/400, Windows, and Unix servers. With TRAXION BPMS Version 7.2, CommerceQuest says, the various components of its business process management suite are now based on a common software infrastructure. Attachmate is shipping new software this month that lets users take the fields of OS/400 or mainframe green-screen applications and reassemble them in new and useful ways. The software, called myEXTRA! Presentation Builder, was designed so managers can streamline user access to specific parts of applications, even if the manager doesn't have technical skills. Qualcomm and Aether Improve Communication for Truckers

Even truckers don't like to leave home without access to their e-mail. Last week at the American Trucking Association conference in San Antonio, Qualcomm and Aether Systems, the two biggest developers of OS/400-based truck communication systems, with their respective OMNITracs and MobileMax systems, introduced enhancements that will give truckers access to e-mail and faster connections to dispatch systems while they're on the road.
