Manage Windows Backups from iSeries with New LXI Software
by Alex Woodie
LXI officially launched new software last week that lets organizations manage backup and recovery operations for Windows, Unix, and Linux servers from their OS/400 server, and vice versa. The new product, called the Universal Client Backup, works with LXI's backup and recovery software for OS/400 and open systems, called MMS and TMS/ix respectively, and lets those two products function as either a client or a server to the other. BMC Streamlines Access to Performance Data
by Alex Woodie
BMC Software is shipping new utilities for mainframes and OS/400 servers that make it easier to access and view performance data collected by other BMC products on those platforms. PATROL for iSeries-Perceive and MAINVIEW Perceive let company employees who don't have access to BMC's performance tools view performance reports in a Web browser, which, BMC says, helps companies manage information technology more like other closely watched business processes. Aldon's Change Management System Has Full Support for SQL
by Alex Woodie
Aldon Computer Group has issued a new release of its change management system for AS/400 and iSeries environments, Aldon/CMS Version 7.2, which has full support for SQL objects. Handling of SQL objects was limited with prior releases of the system, but the new release supports SQL objects just like it does every other OS/400 object, which should streamline SQL development on the box and improve code portability. eStorage Has Some ESP of Its Own
by Alex Woodie
eStorage has a new software and services offering for its line of tape and disk drives that alerts eStorage's technical support team when problems are detected in these devices.
