Reader Feedback and Insights
Hey, Victor:
I just finished reading your customer service editorial ["As I See It: The Service Myth," January 7]. If your e-mail screening software doesn't shunt this to the trash can, I want you to know that you were pretty much right on target.
But--here's the but, I know you were waiting for it--in no way, shape, or form did the changes enacted in the California electrical utility reform resemble deregulation.
Instead, it was a tangle of new regulations, controls, and reorganization geared toward buying votes by promising lower electrical rates. The consumers got what they deserved, both in their utility bills and at the polls. By the way, I'm not a utility employee, and I am not from California. I work in the dairy industry; talk about a regulated industry. But that's another story.
Keep up the good work, and pass my thanks to everyone else at The Four Hundred.
