Vision Solutions Appoints New Executive VP of Sales and Marketing

Published: January 23, 2006

by Dan Burger

Vision Solutions, one of the familiar names in iSeries high availability software, has appointed Norm Williams to the position of executive vice president of sales and marketing.

Williams is taking on these responsibilities after a five-month stint as a sales, marketing, and strategic directions consultant to Vision Solutions. Although Williams is new to the IBM world, where Vision Solutions is a premier business partner, Alan Arnold, the president and chief operating officer at the company, says he has known Williams through professional organizations for several years and is impressed with his abilities--particularly his skill at starting up, building, and running companies.

Williams has been the CEO of several software companies. Prior to joining Vision Solutions, Williams was president and CEO of Island Data, an analytic software company specializing in customer feedback and customer retention. Williams held senior-level domestic and international sales and sales management positions at Conner Peripherals and the company that ultimately purchased Conner, Seagate Technology. Conner Peripherals was a Fortune 500 company that specialized in small form factor computer disk drives.

Arnold says Vision Solutions is coming off its best year and Williams will be called upon to bring the company's sales and marketing teams closer together in order to maintain a strong connection with partners and customers. Former head of sales and marketing, David Wegman, remains an executive vice president with the firm, and will be chiefly responsible for key global accounts and for managing partner relations with Big Blue.
