    by Timothy Prickett Morgan

Some say you can't learn from other people's experiences, but despite my cynicism about many things, I believe we can, even if they're not real people. I'm talking about learning from science fiction, of course, and like many nerds out there, I've read the classics and seen Star Wars and Star Trek. The lessons I've learned from these pulp novels and movies are real, and I think the people at IBM who run the iSeries could use a heavy dose of unreality to change their thinking. Gartner Says Server Market Closed 2003 with a Bang
    by Timothy Prickett Morgan

Despite all the talk of server consolidation, companies around the world are still buying lots and lots of servers. While the growth rates in unit shipments for the fourth quarter of 2003 were not nearly as high as during the peak of the dot-com bubble in the 1990s, shipment growth accelerated throughout 2003, according to preliminary estimates by the Dataquest market research unit of Gartner. People are buying lots of servers again, and that means a couple of things. READ MORE >

Tech Insight: Good Ideas Whose Time Has Come

Now the demand for delivering Web-based collaborative software has been thrown into the mix. With the relentless evolution of business information technology, there's a compelling reason to take advantage of advanced Web technologies. READ MORE >
