looksoftware Hosts i Believe Event Ahead of COMMON

Published: February 27, 2012

by Timothy Prickett Morgan

If you were thinking of heading out to California a little early to play at Disneyland before the COMMON midrange user group meeting and expo, then application modernization tool maker looksoftware is hosting a special event ahead of COMMON that will probably pique your interest.

The COMMON event is being hosted May 6 through 9 at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and will presumably feature the top brass from IBM's Power Systems division as it always does. (Although with a little more emphasis on AIX as has been happening over the past several years.) And the top techies in the IBM i community will obviously also be there.

Given that everyone is making the trip already, looksoftware decided to host an event called "i Believe" at the Hyatt Regency hotel in nearby Garden Grove, on the Friday ahead of COMMON. The event, which will still give you plenty of time to get dizzy on Disney rides, will have presentations from Frank Soltis, Jon Paris, Susan Gantner, Alison Butterill, and Trevor Perry, all hotshots in the IBM i community both inside and outside of IBM, and the topic of conversation--of course--will be their visions of the future of the IBM i platform and " how to extract maximum value from IBM i investments" as looksoftware's marketing manager, Paul Hodgkinson, puts it.

And, looksoftware is serving lunch, too, and will have a roundtable Q&A session so you can grill the panel of speakers.

"We believe in the IBM i," says looksoftware CEO Brendan Kay. "It's the most cost effective, scalable, and reliable application server on the market. We meet many hundreds of people every year who share that belief, but who are unaware of the full extent of the platform's power. When we first started discussing this idea, we were struck by the passion of the IBM i community and we are thrilled to have an amazing line-up of fascinating and informative speakers. It is our hope that every attendee will leave the event with a deeper appreciation of the platform, and a better understanding of how it can support their business into the future."

Space will be limited, so if you want to attend this free event, you had better sign up here before all the spots are taken. The full agenda for the event is not yet available but will be posted shortly.
