SoftLanding Goes Open Source with TurnOverSVN
by Timothy Prickett Morgan

Subversion for OS/400 is not a new anti-iSeries marketing program from Microsoft, but rather an innovative open source add-on to SoftLanding Systems' TurnOver Change Management tools for managing the application development process at iSeries shops. Concurrent with the debut of the new TurnOver 5.4 release of its change management suite for RPG, COBOL, and other native OS/400 applications, SoftLanding is announcing it has ported an open source change management tool called Subversion to OS/400 for managing PC, Java, and Web applications. iTera Says Business is Brisk
by Timothy Prickett Morgan

As I have said many times in the past, it would be tough to find a more aggressive and competitive market than that created by the makers of high availability and clustering software for the iSeries. It was a tough market in the 1990s, when there were three dominant players, and in the 2000s, with a half dozen players, it is even tougher. But the increasing competitive pressures are expanding the use of HA software among iSeries shops, and this is good news for all HA players. READ MORE >

Where Is i5/OS Small Business Suite?
by Timothy Prickett Morgan

A little more than a week ago, Novell announced an aggressively packaged and priced stack of Linux software aimed at small businesses called, appropriately enough, Linux Small Business Suite.
