    SSA Global Delivers First Product in ERP Convergence Strategy

    SSA Global's ERP product convergence strategy came to life this month, when it announced the availability of SSA ERP LN, which is based on its Baan ERP product and runs on Unix servers. For the company's large iSeries installed base, SSA Global announced a similar plan to converge its BPCS, PRMS, Infinium, and PRISM products, which were all designed to run on OS/400 servers, onto a new product to be called ERP LX.     California Software, Unisys Chase OS/400 Base

    AS/400 application rehosting software maker California Software announced last week that it has signed a global agreement with server maker Unisys under which the two will work together to promote an alternative to IBM's iSeries and i5 OS/400 platforms.     If you've never heard of Sakhalin, you are in the majority. It's a remote island off the east coast of Russia, dotted with small villages, surrounded by miles of subarctic evergreen forest. Frequented primarily by determined sportsmen, the island once hosted Soviet-style boy scout camps, in which wilderness training was augmented with somber doses of communist ideology.
