Four People Seek Seats on COMMON Board

It may not be as hot a race as the 2008 presidential elections here in the United States, but an election is heating up over at the COMMON midrange user group, which has four people chasing three seats on the board of directors for the organization.

COMMON board members serve on a three-year term, and each of the four candidates wants to do his part in helping steer COMMON as it adjusts to the needs of the i5/OS and OS/400 community and to the changing ways that community members socialize and learn.

In alphabetical order, the candidates are Dan Kimmel, a speaker and volunteer at more than 30 COMMON conferences and a developer with over 30 years of experience on IBM midrange systems, is chasing one of the board seats. So is Bob Krzeczowski, who has been a programmer, analyst and manager in his 26 years in the IT field and a volunteer and speaker at COMMON for the past 15 years. Wayne Madden, who is seeing a re-election to the board, is vice president and editor in chief at the IBM Technology Group at IT publisher Penton Media; Madden started out in System/3X operations, moved over to programming, and eventually into publishing. He has been a volunteer at COMMON for the past 17 years. The final candidate is Rajan Narayanan, vice president in charge of the IBM practice at MindTree Consulting, who has two decades of experience in IT, including System/3X, AS/400, iSeries, and System i platforms. MindTree Consulting is co-headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, and Bangalore, India, and Narayanan runs a 500-person staff that provides services for the i5/OS and OS/400 platform.
