Get Along? They can, with Enterprise Application Management (EAM)!

With WebSphere application development products, synchronizing work across multiple enterprise platforms is difficult and time-consuming. Midrange i5s Versus the iSeries, Revisited
by Timothy Prickett Morgan

I did a detailed comparison in early June of entry and midrange models of the eServer i5s to the prior generation of iSeries machines. A lot of things related to i5 pricing changed through a succession of i5 announcements, culminating with the launch of the four-way iSeries Model 550 server. These changes warrant a second look at how the i5s rate against the iSeries, as well as a comparison of how the different i5s stack up against one another. READ MORE >

IBM Offers Deals to Push iSeries and i5 Products
by Timothy Prickett Morgan

Since May, the OS/400 community has had to absorb a lot of product announcements, pricing actions, and packaging changes in the wake of the eServer i5 announcements. While the new i5 iron and i5/OS offer considerably better bang for the buck than last year's iSeries models, it still often takes a deal to grease the wheels of commerce. And that is why IBM continues to make little deals here and there on the OS/400 platform. READ MORE >

It Had to Happen: An AS/400 True Romance
by Jeff Beddow

A few weeks ago, I was scanning the ads on eBay and my eye was caught by the improbable offer of an IBM "mainframe" AS/400 9406 system in "good condition." The current bid was $0.99.
